Koyọ As Greeting In Ẹdo

Ko'yọ As Greeting In Ẹdo

K o y is a combination of two words: Okomwẹn and Ọyọ. Koyọ is a short combination of Okomwẹn and Ọyọ while Kọọ - in short term

Most comments and responses had been either "well-done" or "sorry" or Hello, these are mere meaning.

"Koyọ" had become in local parlance, but not the real and exact meaning.
O-ko-mwẹn: my person.

"Okomwẹn" by abbreviation is 'komwẹn where 'ko' is taken and prefix "Ọyọ" (well), you have "'ko'yọ"

- "Okomwẹn-Ọyọ 'ruẹ nọ ma"    shortened to
- " 'ko' yọ " or "'kọ " "Ko'yọ " as a greeting of
"my person-it-is-well-with-you"
- " 'komwẹn-Ọyọ 'ruẹ nọ ma"
  shortened to
- " 'ko' yọ " or "'kọ".

"Every greeting and name in Benin is a message"

Another deep expansion and explanation of 'Ko' yọ:Aguẹ Ẹdo , aigue'ogbe. Ẹdo nọ rẹ uwe Ẹdo , Ẹdo nọ dinmwin na zẹ.

Ẹdo language is simple to speak, but difficult to understand it's nitty gritty.

Ẹdo language translation has deeper meaning than the common use of words. Ko'yọ is a combination of two words that had been abbreviated. "Koyọ" where "ko" is from "Okomwẹn" as 'komwẹn,

That is, meeting a person, that person is addressed as "Okomwẹn"(my person), when you meet that "my person" (used generally) you wish that person "well" (Ọyọ 'ruẹ nọ ma)

In greeting, these two words "Okomwẹn-oyọ 'ruẹ nọ ma" were combined from the abbreviations of both "Ko' yọ " as a greeting of "my person-it-is-well-with-you"

Examples of their usage:

Okomwẹn Oko (individual being) mwẹn.

In Edo, it is believed we live for one another, hence "Okomwẹn" is commonly use as addressing every individual.

Ọyọ 'ruẹ nọ ma (it is well with you) Ọyọnọ (it is well)Ọyọyọyọ (it is well, it is well)

Ko'yọ as greeting was derived from these two words of "my person" and prayer/wish of wellness": "Okomwẹn-Ọyọ 'ruẹ nọ ma" or "Okomwẹn-Ọyọnọ" Ordinarily.

When you meet someone celebrating, you can remark to the person with the greeting: Ọyọnọ (it is well) which is a detach from the prefix of "Ko'yọ".
